Work on drains and utilities in the past decades has caused removal
of short sections of track in some places. The upper photo shows a
unique place near 116th Street where you can see a cross section of
the iron around the conduit slot, where it meets a now-missing section
of track.
The random nature of the exposures means there aren't too many
places where you can see two successive pairs of insulator manholes,
the ones that are spaced every 15 feet. The lower photograph shows
one of the places where two pairs in a row are exposed. This confirms
that the cable diagrams depict something very similar to the conduit
construction on Broadway, since the spacing of the covers is the
same.
